Randy Long, age 60, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
Randy was born on November 16, 1962, the son of Billy Long and Dolores (Dupuy) Loftus. He attended Saydel High School and later found his calling as a heavy equipment operator. For over two decades, he worked for McAnich Corporation and extended to his tenure with Madison County, where he dedicated a decade to the community he called home.
As a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 234, Randy exemplified the values and professionalism within his trade.
He embraced the tight-knit bonds that come with small-town living, touching the lives of those around him through his kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Randy's journey was one of hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, Cassidy Long and Brandon McPherson; his former spouse, Deanna "De" Lockhart; brothers, Bill Long and Devin Long; ten grandchildren, Kendra, Keira, Ty, Tate, Keaton, Brielle, Brayden, Camden, Holden, and Eden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Cade O'Brien Long; and sister, Lynette Anderson.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Memorials may be made to the family for a future designation.
