Jack Roland Daniels, son of Jack R. Daniels and Jessie Bernice (Day) Daniels Gates was born January 14, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life Saturday, April 29, 2023 in Des Moines, Iowa at 86 years of age.

Jack grew up in Des Moines until the family moved to St. Charles when he was a teenager. He graduated from St. Charles High School. Jack was united in marriage to Joyce Tomes on April 7, 1957, and they were blessed with five children, Cynthia, Sharon, Vicki, Jack and Melissa.

Jack worked for Coca Cola for a few years before starting work for LBS/Corporate Image. He retired as a Prepress Manager after 43 years. Jack was a loving family man who enjoyed life. He had many hobbies and enjoyments that always included family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, horses and always his dogs. He also enjoyed woodworking, carving and painting. Due to his enjoyment of black powder shooting competitions, he and his brother Art started the annual Daniels Rendezvous, a black powder event. Jack enjoyed playing cards, poker and all types of games. He was very musical and could play multiple instruments. Jack was known all over for being "Santa" and his wife Joyce joined him as Mrs. Claus for many years. Together they touched the hearts of hundreds of children, young and old alike.

Jack and Joyce enjoyed traveling, camping and were members of the Rolling Wheels Camping Club. Together they were honored as King and Queen of the St. Charles Old Settlers in 2014. Jack was a member of the St. Charles Lions Club, The Pressman's Club, Iowa Distilling "Bourbon Club" and the St. Charles Parish.

The relatives who preceded Jack in death were his wife, Joyce Daniels, parents, Jack Daniels Sr. and Bernice Gates, great grandchildren, Olivia and Abegail, sisters, Joyce Ann Jungman and Bea Kay Gracey, and brother, Claude Owen Daniels.

Jack leaves to cherish his memory; daughters, Cynthia (Kent) Strawn of Norwalk, IA, Sharon (Mike) Ashby of Winterset, IA, Vicki (Stacey Deist) Howell of Polk City, IA, Melissa (Don) Walker of Peru, IA, son, Jack Daniels of St. Charles, IA, 17 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brian) Wilson, John (Jessi) Strawn, Eric Ashby, Mike (Alisa) Ashby, Jr., Jennifer (Preston Wilmes) Shilhanek, Linda (Matt) Reyna-Willms, Dan (Kathryn) Ashby, Heather (Bill) Hendrickson, Ryan (Megan Gruber) Gavin, Charity Shaver, Nicki (Danny) Craig, Kyle (Jauna Hopkins) Howell, Jack (Courtney Wright) Daniels, Charles Daniels, Joshua Daniels, Joey Walker, Kody (Aaron Will) Walker, 37 great grandchildren, Connor, Zachary, Chase, Zoey, Madyson, Alyson, Kaitlyn, Robert, Michael Noel, Lacy (Scott), Reyna (Raymond), McCartney, Lennon, Harrison, Hudson, Hayden, Hank, Elizabeth, Annabelle, Seraphina, Michaela, Ian, Lillian, Lola, Emmeline, Trenton (Daniel), Spencer, Noah, Ryder, Bane, Grayson, Layla, Angus, Griffin, Charlie, Sylis, NevaehJoyce, 6 great-great grandchildren, Zayden, Fallyn, Asher, Jayden, Judah and Riley, brothers, Larry (Sandy) Daniels of Windsor Heights, IA, Art (Linda) Daniels of New Virginia, IA, Ed (Peggy) Daniels of St. Charles, IA, sister, Julie (Kay Kline) Daniels of St. Charles, IA, sister-in-law, Barbara Daniels of St. Charles, IA as well as many other relatives and friends.

Jack's family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, IA.

Services will be held at St. Charles Parish, Friday, May 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Darin Feikema officiating.

A live stream of the service will be available at kalefuneralhome.com on Jack's tribute wall beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday.

Interment will be in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his family for a fitting tribute to be decided at a later date.
