In 1982 Larry and Janet purchased the local grocery store in Saint Charles and owned it until 1987.

Janet was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed time with her family. She was mostly a homemaker but did work a little in retail and was a clerk at Lakeside Casino when it first opened. She enjoyed reading, shopping, doing family history, scrapbooking and spending time on her tablet and in her earlier years she loved crocheting afghans for her family. Janet was also a breast cancer survivor.

Larry was a hard-working family man, working in paving construction and still worked part time for Manatt’s in Johnston. He enjoyed tinkering with anything, going fishing, going to the casino but most of all playing games and cards with his children and grandchildren. Larry was active in the St. Charles Lions club acting as “Santa” for several years and was always there to help with their activities. He also was a former member of the Saint Charles Volunteer Fire Department and a member Men’s Club in Sun City West, AZ.

Janet and Larry enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and wintering in Arizona, and really enjoyed being with their family including Sunday card nights and supper. Janet never played cards because Larry always cheated or so she said. Larry was a jokester and enjoyed getting Janet going. While in Arizona they enjoyed family visiting, going to estate sales, sightseeing, and just enjoying the warm weather.
