Shirley Ellen Farver, age 87 of Winterset, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Brio of Johnston. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Silent City Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am on at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe United Methodist Church or the Silent City Cemetery Association. The daughter of Delbert and Wilma (Shannon) Thomasson, Shirley was born on April 11, 1935, in Newton, Iowa. On September 11, 1951, she was united in marriage to Jack Lee Farver in Iowa City. Shirley stayed at home with the kids for a while and went on to Work at Farmers & Merchants Bank in Winterset. After Jack’s death in 2019, she moved to Brio of Johnston and formed a circle of friends there. She enjoyed reading but most of all the time she spent with her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her two sons, Kevin (Dena) Farver and Kent (Mia Fantauzzi) Farver; grandchildren, Austen (Katie) Farver, Nolan Farver, Kade Farver and Kasi Farver, a great grandson, Jack Charles Farver; a brother, Lynn (Barbara) Thomasson and a sister, Sue (Delwin) Antle. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Jack in 2019, and an infant son, Jon Charles.
