Des Moines, IowaRodney Luke Alberts, son of Edna Lois Alberts, 81, passed away at his home in Norwalk on Saturday, December 24, 2022. He was born November 15, 1941.
Rod worked as an underwriter and software developer until his retirement in 2010. He attended Norwalk Community Schools through his graduation in 1959. He attended Drake University where he studied Advanced Mathematics and Computer Programming.
Rod collected and restored musical instruments and had a deep love for the Christian hymns that he enjoyed playing for his friends. He was known in the music industry in the Des Moines area for having a unique playing style and loved playing the blues on his old 50’s & 60’guitars.
Rod was a gifted computer programmer and spent many hours working on these projects at local lakes and parks where he could just enjoy the great outdoors and Gods creation.
Rod’s greatest joy came when was able to share “Jesus Loves You” with everyone that he met or passed by.
Rod recognized Christs love for him beginning at age five and he received the Lord and served him the rest of his life. He would share his favorite scripture with you, Isiah 53, of which he had committed to memory. Rod attended many churches throughout his life and touched many people that he met along the way, sharing his love for Jesus. He most recently attended Fellowship Community Church of Norwalk which he loved and the congregation who graciously received Rod into their community. He also attended the Methodist Church in Norwalk where he enjoyed the organ music. The church supported him with various needs in his life and will be greatly missed by his friends and family and particularly those he touched along the way.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday February 11, 2023 at the Fellowship Community Church, 225 North Ave, Norwalk. Rod has been laid to rest next to his mother at Peru Cemetery near Peru, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Fellowship Community Church, 225 North Ave, Norwalk, IA 50211.
