Timothy Doran, 74, of Winterset, passed on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines with his wife and two daughters by his side.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 with a celebration of life beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Madison County Conservation Board, and/or to the American Cancer Society.
Tim was born on April 19, 1948 to Justin and Patricia (Scheerer) Doran at the Greene County Hospital in Jefferson. He grew up in Beaver, Iowa on his parents farm. He graduated from Ogden High School and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University. On May 28, 1971 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville, IA, Tim wed his love, Susan Linster. Tim was self-employed as a farmer in Mt. Ayr, Iowa prior to working as a Soil Conservation Officer. Throughout his career, Tim worked in this capacity in Winterset, Greenfield and Osceola, Iowa. Tim was disciplined, hardworking, and quick to help others.
Tim was involved with the Madison County Conservation Board and was a member of the Winterset Jaycees. He also enjoyed attending coffee with his morning coffee group. Tim loved road trips around the Midwest with his wife, collecting antiques along the way. He looked forward to his yearly antique sale and loved to talk about antiques. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed time spent outdoors, especially his fishing trips. Tim was a giver. He grew two gardens every year and gave most of his bounty away to others. He never knew a stranger and would talk for hours. His sense of humor was unforgettable. Tim was a loving husband, father, provider and grandfather to his family and will be extremely missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Tim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan; two daughters, Elizabeth (Edward) Disbrow and Rebecca (Jacob) Mullinax; siblings, Michael (Marcia) Doran, Doug (Laurie) Doran, and Peggy (Richard) Buenneke; and four grandchildren, Isla, Aden, Ava and Mabel. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his special friend, Dean.
