Leah Walker Shelley

Leah (Walker) Shelley 36, of Pleasantville, sadly left us on January 18, 2023 following her battle with breast cancer.

Funeral services for Leah will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel with a visitation two hours prior beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation.

Leah was born to Tom and Trena Walker January 15, 1987. She was raised with her siblings, Amber and Craig in Winterset, Iowa. She graduated from Winterset High School in 2005. After high school, Leah worked as a certified nursing assistant at Care Center North. Leah met Tom Shelley in January of 2006. They fell madly in love. She also found herself in love with his two children, Nolyn and Allie and they became a family. In 2008, their family was blessed with their second daughter, Gracey. Tom and Leah were married at Bridal Cave in the Lake of the Ozarks in June of 2009. This was a favorite vacation place for the Shelley and Walker family.

While raising their young children, Leah became a stay-at-home mom. During this time, she spent a few years running an in-home daycare before continuing her schooling. She studied at night to become a medical coder, and she began her career at UnityPoint in 2014. Leah loved her job, but more importantly she loved all the close friends that she made there.

Leah had many interests and spent her time cheering for Hawkeye football, fishing at the river with Tom and friends, gardening, enjoying sunrises and sunsets, nights around a bonfire, shopping on Amazon, and artistic creations. Many wonderful memories were made while living in De Soto with her Cade Court family. Most of all she enjoyed her time with her husband and family. She loved her children, nieces, and nephews. Throughout her battle, she was incredibly strong and brave. Leah was an all-around beautiful person that was always caring for everyone she loved. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.

Leah is survived by her loving husband, Tom Shelley of Pleasantville; son, Nolyn (Karissa Day) Shelley; daughters, Allie and Gracelynn Shelley; parents, Tom and Trena Walker of Prole; sister, Amber (Michael) Wise of Winterset; brother, Craig (Samantha) Walker of Indianola; nieces, Madalynn and Melody Wise; nephews, Logan, Clay, and Miles Walker; expected grandchild, Jaylen Ray Shelley; grandparents, Daryl and Norma Walker; many aunts, uncles and cousins; their dog, Tyler and cat, Frog, AKA M.J.

She was preceded in death by her Granny Carolyn Swadley and Granny Betty Lemons, and her dog, Jack.
