Des Moines, IowaDes Moines - John Michael Lloyd, 83, passed away July 22, 2018 at the Winterset Care Center North.
John was born May 2, 1935 in Des Moines to John and Frances (Cardamon) Lloyd.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. John worked for the Iowa Liquor Commission and later for Massey Ferguson until they closed. He then went to work for St. Anthony Catholic Church and eventually retired from Stivers Ford Lincoln. John was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Bellizzi MacRae American Legion Post #659 and the Society of Italian Americans.
He is survived by his sons, Mike Lloyd and Pat Lloyd; grandchildren, Logan and Grace; sister, Sally Douglas; and a host of extended family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe; and his beloved wife, Dona.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 27th at the funeral home. John will be laid to rest with military honors at 2 p.m. Friday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Bellizzi MacRae American Legion Post #659 in loving memory of John.
