Winterset, IowaFred Lee Gibson, 84 of Winterset passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Fred was born in Page County, Iowa on August 14, 1938, the son of Everett Lee Gibson and Edna Ruth (Blessing) Gibson. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1957. He was united in marriage to Sharon Lee Young on August 12, 1960, at Center Chapel Methodist Church in Warren County, Iowa.
Fred worked at Natural Gas prior to his farming career. After retiring from farming, he enjoyed restoring John Deere Tractors, participating in tractor rides and parades, repairing small engines, taking care of cattle, driving cars for Lanny’s Auto, and socializing with everyone in his shop. He didn’t know a stranger and was a “Jack of all trades”. We loved him more than words could possibly express and he will live on in our hearts forever more.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Gibson; his parents, Everett and Ruth Gibson; and brother, Bill Senior Gibson.
Left to celebrate his memory are his wife, Sharon; daughters, Suzanne (Kirk) Wagner and Melinda (Rod) Horn; brothers, Bob (Pat) Gibson and Dick (Opal) Gibson; and 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., January 3, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel, with Pastor Mark Morehouse officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.
