Mildred Imogene (Sheets) Linn, 95, of West Des Moines, IA passed away peacefully on December 6, 2022.

Millie was born in Earlham, IA on May 24, 1927 and raised in West Des Moines, IA, where she graduated from Valley High School. She met her husband, Nile Paul Linn while working at Younkers [department store] after he came home from serving in WWII. They were married on June 8, 1947 and welcomed their first child, Diana one year later. They had three more children, Brenda, Michael and Jeffrey.

Millie worked her entire professional career for the Telephone Company, retiring in December of 1982 but grass couldn’t grow under her feet. Even in retirement Millie worked and volunteered whenever she could, delighting people with her signature meals and treats!

She and Paul loved to travel the world. Longing for warmer climates, the couple spent Paul’s final years living in California. He passed away in February, 1993 and Millie soon-after returned home to West Des Moines, IA.

Mildred Imogene Linn - a friend, daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and her favorite title – “Great-Grandmother” was loved by everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her sons. She has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. “Millie” will be dearly missed and always remembered.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 13 from 4:00-6:00pm at West Des Moines Christian Church (4501 Mills Civic Pkwy).
