Joyce Marie Jamison

Joyce Marie Jamison completed her earthly life journey on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 84 years of age.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Van Meter with interment to follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Joyce Marie Christensen was born in Albia, Iowa on August 15, 1938, the daughter of Clayton and Eva (Thomas) Christensen. She grew up in Albia and graduated from Albia High School in 1957. She moved to Des Moines and worked at Look magazine. She met Darrell Jamison at a YWCA street dance in 1958 and they were married October 11, 1959. She and Darrell worked together on the family farm. Joyce joined Trinity Lutheran Church of Van Meter in 1959 where she sang in the choir over 40 years.

Memories of Joyce as a mother, wife, and grandmother include many family-centered activities. She provided preschool and childcare for her grandkids and was a 4-H leader. She always assisted with sheep shows with Darrell, the kids and later the grandkids. She was a co-pilot on numerous vacation trips and tours, hosted Christmas Eve dinners for all the family, she annually canned from her garden, and enjoyed spending time at her church.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 63 years, Darrell; daughter, JoLee (Greg) Mapes of Winterset; son, Corey Jamison of Van Meter; daughter-in-law, Julie (Chad) McAulffe; grandchildren, Sam (Anne) Mapes, Sarah (Tanner) Baldwin, Allison (Chad) Porter, Casey Jamison, Alex and Brodie Jamison; great-grandchildren, Clara Porter, Emily Mapes, and Bennett Baldwin; sisters, Ellen Heaton and Linda Sinclair; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Eva Christensen; a son, Chris Jamison; and grandson, John Jamison.
