October 12, 2022We sadly announce the passing of Terry Lee Jeffs, 72, of Winterset, Iowa. Terry passed away on Sept. 23, 2022, at the Iowa Veterans Home/Hospital in Marshalltown.
He was born to Jack and Beverly Jean (Hircock) Jeffs on July 25, 1950. Terry was a force to be reckoned with from the get-go, graduating from Winterset High School in 1968, and then off to 1969 as U.S. Army Private Terry Jeffs serving in Viet Nam until 1971. Then it was back home to pursue his self-proclaimed life as “A Traveling Cowboy” enjoying life on horseback and Harleys, to yacht life and coastal living were he donned his scuba gear for amazing undersea adventures.
Terry certainly lived a full and vibrant life and his family and friends were his treasures and comfort, and he loved and treated his horses and dogs as equals.
We will miss Terry dearly and the million short and tall tales he leaves behind. Was he realy in a movie? Captain a millionaire’s ship?? Tune Elvis’s guitar??? Maybe…
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his two younger brothers, Randy and Mike Jeffs; and his baby sis, Cinde (Jeffs) Alexander; lots of nieces and nephews, and his many beloved cousins and friends.
Services will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel/Van Meter on Oct. 12 at 12:30. Terry’s cremains will be buried there following the services. The 21-gun salute will warmly send this soldier home.
A celebration of life for Terry will be announced at a later time.
