Delores (Dee) Peckham

Delores (Dee) Peckham, 80, of Macksburg, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at EveryStep Hospice House in Creston.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the Macksburg United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Moon Cemetery, rural Macksburg. Memorials may be directed to EveryStep Hospice and AHeinz 57 Pet Rescue, DeSoto.

Dee was born on September 23, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Austin High in Chicago in 1959. In 1960, she married Ronald Jones. From this union, two children, Michael and Pamela were born. In 1993, she married Johnnie Peckham. Together they owned and ran Papa’s Bar and Grill in Macksburg.

Dee was a proud member of the Macksburg community. She enjoyed making and donating baskets for the town children at Easter and Christmas. She loved to cook and bake for others. Her generous spirit was truly evident in everything she did. She was a passionate, lifelong Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears fan. In recent years, the highlight of her week was getting together with her special friends to play poker.

Those left to treasure her memory are her son, Michael Jones, daughter-in-law, Julie Gesin and granddaughter, Maya Jones of Daly City, CA; daughter, Pamela Jones of Macksburg and her beloved dog, Fraiser; brother, Jack Wolfe of Massachusetts, sister-in-law, Nancy Wolfe of Illinois and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by stepchildren, Barbara and Bill Peckham; step grandchildren, Mitch Pashek, Jessie Peckham and Chantz Peckham; and two step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Peckham; parents, Lawrence and Ada Wolfe; brothers, Richard and Joseph Wolfe; and nephew, Steven Wolfe.
