Kenny was born June 2, 1944 in Burbank, CA where the family was stationed while his father served overseas in WWII. He was the second son of Norman and Esther (Hircock) Felton. Esther and the two boys relocated to the Winterset area in Madison County after Norman was killed on Iwo Jima. Kenny graduated from Winterset High School in 1962 where he was a letter-winner in basketball, football, and track. He then attended 2 years of college at NW Missouri State University in Maryville before completing his college education via night courses at Drake University. Kenny met his wife, Sheryl Lee Hiskey, in 1963 and they were married on September 3, 1965. This union produced two children, Angela in 1967 and Jeffrey in 1971.
Professionally, Kenny worked nights at Iowa-Des Moines National Bank and as an accountant at IMT Insurance, before joining Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company in 1978 where he was promoted to and served as Treasurer for the company in 1993 until he retired in 2004.
Kenny was an avid golfer and traveled with both his wife and groups of friends to experience many PGA golf courses across the country. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing pool, and playing card and strategy games. Kenny utilized his accounting skills to track his and Sheryl’s winning percentages in multiple games against family and friends. Winters in Iowa would always find him working jigsaw puzzles to pass the time or golfing and enjoying beaches on the Emerald Coast of Florida with Sheryl and guests they invited to join them.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Sheryl; daughter, Angie (John) Arnold of Ankeny, IA; son, Jeff of Columbia, MO; mother, Esther Rogers of Grimes, IA; brothers, Keith (Melody) Felton of Colfax, IA and Randy (Marci) Rogers, Johnston, IA. Kenny was 6’2” and was always the biggest kid in the room where babies were concerned – particularly his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, including Maggie (Chad) Portra of Bismarck, ND with Luke, Sophie, Caroline, Harrison and Ellery Portra; Jennifer Arnold of Carmel, IN; Althea Felton of Columbia, MO and Jackson (Olivia) Felton of Colorado Springs, CO; and Quinn Felton of Columbia, MO.
