Joseph Patrick Breece was born July 22, 1957, the son of Lester Breece and Irene Beard. He graduated from high school in Canon City, Colorado and attended DMACC. He married Kathy Nall on July 20, 1978.

Joe loved working on the farm. He did various jobs as a semi mechanic, worked at Kum & Go, worked at hog farms, and worked for a time at coal mines. Joe also enjoyed helping his son on jobs. He worked hard and long hours trying to make a living for his family and would work many odd jobs to make a little more money.

He loved fishing, hunting and making deer jerky and burgers. He liked cutting wood, camping, swimming, and playing cards. He especially loved spending time with his family. While camping, he would stay out most of the night fishing. Joe and Kathy would also stay up most of the night playing cards with friends.

Joe had a very colorful vocabulary. He would say: “I’m not going to do that, why should I have to, I don’t have to, I didn’t do that – and blame it on someone else, what - you don’t love me anymore…"

Joe is survived by his daughter, Jamie Breece (Curtis White) of Van Meter; son, Chris Breece of Bridgewater; sister, Rose Breece of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Dakota Holtry, Stormy Davis (Alex), Lacey Breece, Denver Breece, Amber Breece, and Robi Austin; and great-grandchild, Ariella Breece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Breece, Irene Stearns and stepfather, Burl Stearns; and his wife, Kathy Breece.
