Hicks, Wilma Leatha "Bonnie", 91, passed peacefully on November 27, 2019. She will reunite with her husband of 65 years who preceded her in death. She was a vivacious, driven wife, mother, grandmother, Gigi, and matriarch to her family and Grandma "B" to a multitude of children to whom she became an "adopted" Grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Donna Haxton (Bob), son Dr. David Hicks (Jana), son John Hicks-Courant.

Grandchildren: Melissa Long(Albert),Daniel Haxton, Timothy Haxton(Heather), Robert Haxton III(Traci ), Dana Downey(Steven),Brian Hicks, David Hicks, Jason Hicks(Brittnee), Miranda Courant-Morgan(Dulcea), Dr Katherine Hicks-Courant Schwartz (Aaron), Alex Hicks- Courant and 15 great grandchildren.

She was married at age 19 to John Hicks in 1949. She was homecoming queen and he was captain of the football team. Grandma Hicks first led her to Christ in high school. Inseparable throughout their 70 years together, they were role models to everyone around them. A dancer in her early years, she spent her married life raising three children and because of the unrest in the 1960's she decided to go back to college and obtain her masters in teaching. She became an elementary school teacher and later a principal. She believed that every child has a chance to be whatever he chooses to become if given the principles of being good to others and education, she taught respect, and that little things mattered in neatness, and cleanliness. She was a master story teller appreciated by anyone who knew her.

After retiring she could not sit back and do nothing, she easily met other families and was helpful in guiding many of the children in their lives. She and John moved to Palm Harbor Florida to be close to family. But all those families and children she had met along the way still sought her out and the families have remained friends for life. This woman was steadfast, spunky, vivacious, and driven until the day she passed. She was the last one of her generation in our families and now is finally reunited with John.

Services will be held on Friday December 6, 2019 at 11 AM at Clearwater Community Church, 2897 Belcher Road, Dunedin, FL 34698.

Transcriber's note: There is a gravestone at the Earlham cemetery for both Wilma and John.
