NEWTON. IA. - Services for Leo E. Thurman, 62, of Newton, who died of a heart attack Friday at borne, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Wallace Funeral Home. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Mr. Thurman, born in Truro, was a retired employee of the Maytag Company and drove a school bus. He was past commander of the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars post, past fourth district VFW commander, past grand commander of the Cooties of. Iowa and commander-elect of the ninth district council.
Survivors Include his wife, Mary, two daughters, Elaine Trout of Baxter and Rosslyn Carrier of Newton; his mother, Irene White of Newton; and two sisters, Helen Rethmeier and Darlene Engle, both of Newton; and five grandchildren. Friends may call after 10am today at the funeral home.
