Evelyn Marie Lyon Signs, born February 16, 1921 in Winterset to Glen and Minnie Lyon, passed away June 1, 2003 in Des Moines at the age of 82 from respiratory failure. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Evelyn met and married James Signs, Jr. To this union two children were born, James Kent and Edward Martin. They made their home on the east side. Evelyn retired as an assistant for Iva Helwig Physical Therapy.

She enjoyed playing cards, cooking big meals, fishing, traveling, enteitaining and laughing with her friends and family.

Evelyn leaves great memories with her sons, Jim and wife Delores and Ed and wife Ruth Ann; her grandchildren, Jim Signs, II and wife Ruth, Brenda and husband Jeff Sample, Jody (Signs) Briggs, Marty Signs and Sheena Signs; and her six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; brother, Roy Lyon; and recently by companion, Gail Anderson.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 Tuesday evening at Hamilton's on Lyon St.
