Last rites for Mrs. William Gilleland, 74, who died Saturday were held Monday afternoon at Ramsey-Richards funeral home, conducted by the Rev. H. L. Olmstead. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
Mrs. Gilleland was the daughter of James and Martha Harrison and was named Cynthia Jane. Her parents came to Madison county when she was a child and settled near Webster Center. She was married September 24, 1892 to George William Gilleland. Mr. Gilleland died eight years ago. Since then she made her home with her brother, James Harrison.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilleland were in charge of the county farm about 14 years. Three children were reared in their home after the death of a sister, Mrs. George Thayer, then only 14 months old, Mrs. Grace Painter and Mrs. Goldie Bohnsdahl of Chicago.
She leaves her son, Albert Gilleland of Council Bluffs; her three foster daughters; four brothers, Benjamin, Thomas, James and Frank Harrison of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Nancy Rudolph of Winterset.
