Deborah (Etzen) Gruwell

Deborah (Etzen) Gruwell, 67, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Debbie was born on December 15, 1954 to Harvey and Viola (Turnbull) Etzen in Des Moines, Iowa. She married Jimmy Gruwell in 1975 in Des Moines, Iowa. Over the years, she worked cleaning houses for others and caring for her own family.

Debbie loved all animals, especially her own. She found great joy in riding and caring for her horses. Going to the state fair with her son Johny was a yearly trip. She loved God and was faithful to her church, Word of Life Church, where she was a member. Overall, she loved being at home with her family, especially her sons and grandchildren.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Viola; and brother, Steve Etzen.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy; sons, Johny Alan, David Michael (Sherri), and Robert Lee; sisters, Cheryl (Tim) Little, and Sandy (Jeff) Allsup; brother, Bob (Sue) Etzen; and 5 grandchildren, Makala, Mariah, Bailey, Brooklyn and Emily.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
