Rev. Potter, for many years pastor of the First Presbyterian church of this city died at his home in Florida on Tuesday of last week. Memorial services were held for him at the church Sunday.

REV. DR. POTTER DEAD.

Father of Justice Potter, of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Died at Eustis, Fla.

Rev. J. M. Potter, of Middle street Sharpsburg, received word Saturday of the death of his brother, Rev. J H Potter, D. D., in Eustis, Fla. Mr. Potter was 75 years old. He was born in Library, Allegheny county, Pa., October 3, 1828. He was a son of John Potter.

Mr. Potter was educated at Jefferson college, graduating from that institution in 1851, and four years later graduating from the Western Theo logical seminary. His death was caused by an affection of the throat, which was the result of an attack of grip which he suffered three years ago. Up to the time of his death he had attended to the work of his parish and had preached with the vigor of his youth up until within a few Sundays of his death.

Mr. Potter was the father of three children. They are W. P. Potter, justice of the Supreme court of Pennsylvania; John E. Potter, president of the Potter Abstract company, of Pittsburg and Mrs. Mary Kay, of Cripple Creek, Col. The children, with his wife, survive him.

According to the advices received future services took place at at Eustis, Fla., yesterday afternoon. Rev. Potter is well known in this vicinity where he frequently visited rela tives and Library where be formally lived.
