JAMES A. DOREMUS ENDS LONG LIFE

James a Doremus, a highly respected citizen of Burbank died at his home, 715 Santa Anita avenue, aged nearly 84 years. Funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday afternoon by Rev. J. H. Avery and internment was in Grandview, the remains being in charge of A. C. Fillbach of this city.

Mr. Doremus was born in New York City August 25, 1837; Served with the 9th Indiana Infantry in the civil war, receiving severe wounds in one of the great battles.

He was married at Chariton, Iowa, and celebrated his golden wedding anniversary on the 30th of January this year. He was a life long member of the Baptist church,

His early years were spent in the grocery business in which he was successful. Mr. and Mrs. Doremus came to Burbank in 1913, having come to California two years earlier.

Mr. Doremus leaves his companion, Mrs. Lena A. Doremus, a son, F. W. Doremus, of Somis, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Rachel D. Roest, of Burbank, and a granddaughter, Miss Lena A. Doremus.

Transcriber's note: The Doremus family resided in Douglas Township, Madison County in the 1895 census and James was a member of the Pitzer G. A. R. for several years.
