Mrs. Carter Died Friday

Sarah Ellen Carter, Centerville Route 2, died Friday morning, April 24, at the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 4 days.

Mrs. Carter was born in Wayne County June 20, 1862, the daughter of Jeremiah and Sarah Chadd. She formerly lived in Winterset and St. Charles, Iowa, coming here recently to be with her daughter, Mrs. Walter McClellan. She was a long time member of the United Brethren Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Walter McClellan of Centerville, Route 2, a son, Sam Carter of Harrisonville, Missouri, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Fife of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Rhoda Blair of St. Charles, Iowa, and one brother George Chadd of Nevada, Mo., eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her husband, Robert E. Carter, one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Smith, and a son Frank Carter, preceded her in death.

The body will be at the Johnson Funeral Home until Sunday morning at 10 a.m., when it will be taken to Blair Chapel near St. Charles for funeral services and burial at 2 p.m. Sunday.
