DAVID KIRK DIES; MARCHED TO SEA WITH SHERMAN

David Sample Kirk, 79 years old, veteran of the civil war, died at Iowa Congregational hospital yesterday. Mr. Kirk was a member of Greenfield post of the G. A. R., residing in that town before removing to Des Moines several years ago.

He enlisted in Company I, Fourth regiment of Iowa volunteers, marched with Sherman to the sea and attended the grand review of the union army in Washington at the close of the war.

He was born in Ohio, coming to Iowa at the age of 9 and residing in this state ever since.

He is survived by his widow, Lydia Kirk, and five children; Mrs. Myrtle Green, Clarinda; Mrs. W. H. Emmons, Chicago; J. H. Kirk, Des Moines; Dr. William Kirk, New Jersey; Mrs. Helen Oxenreider, Shannon City, Ia.

Funeral services will be held at the family home, 2625 Forty-ninth street, at 3 p. m., Sunday, Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Greenfield.
