William Earl Moore

William Earl Moore worked on various ranches and as a mechanic in Montana before moving to Seattle, Wash., where he was employed by Painter Willamett as a welder during World War II. He later returned to Billings where he was a used car dealer and in 1978, moved to Ryegate where he was Golden Valley's only car dealer.

He was a 45-year member of the Moose Lodge, served on the Moose Degree Team and was past president of the Moose Rifle Team. He was a member of Legion of the Moose, National Peace Officer Association, special deputy of Yellowstone County and Musselshell County, and served as coroner for Golden Valley County for four years. He was president of Senior Citizens of Ryegate, president of District Six Senior Citizens, the first instructor for Hunters Safety in Yellowstone County, and a member of National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and his grandchildren.

Mr. Moore, 67, of 1708 Lewis Ave., died in his home Tuesday morning of natural causes.

He was born in Winterset, Iowa, a son of Charles and Cora Anderson Moore. He lived in Winterset, Iowa, until the age of 12 when the family moved to Montana. On Aug. 5, 1939, he married Ethel Sturdevant in Billings.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Darrel D. of Soda Springs, Idaho, Ronald E. of Billings, Raymond A. of Lander, Wyo., and Roger D. of Evergreen, Colo.; a daughter, Sharon Larson of Billings; two sisters, Catherine Agrimson of Great Falls and Leona Miller of Portland, Ore.; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Dahl Funeral Chapel with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
