Winterset, IowaJoseph “Poppy” Feeny, 70, of Winterset, died Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel. Family will greet friends one hour prior, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
“Poppy” was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 7, 1951, the son of William Jr. and Margaret (Jefferson) Feeny. He married Linda Marie Schuck on August 10, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He had been a career military serviceman, serving in the United States Marine Corps as a disbursing chief.
He was a resident of Winterset since 2007. He loved donating to charities and had been a very giving person to help other people out.
“Poppy” is survived by his children, Sabrina (Nate) Feeny, Jeannette Edwards, David (Kathy) Rupe, and Michael (Melissa) Wills; siblings, Bill (Patricia) Feeny, and Jim Feeny; grandchildren, Brittany (Austen) Feeny, Steven McVay, Hayley Rupe, Chelsey Rupe, and Kyle Rupe; and great grandchildren, Gabriella, Hannah, and Sam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jr. and Margaret (Jefferson) Feeny; wife, Linda Feeny; daughter, Jeannette Edwards; and several brothers and sisters.
