Donald Jennings, 80, of Creston died Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at his home in Creston.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Avenue in Creston.
Pastor Paul Vandevender will officiate. Flag presentation by Theodore J. Martens, Creston V.F.W. Post #1797. Services will be livestreamed under events on our website page.Burial will be at Barney Cemetery in Madison County at a later date.
Open visitation, with family receiving friends will be 2-4:00 p.m. Saturday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Union County Fair Board.
Donald Jennings, son of Merle Lewis and Gracie Irene (Beaman) Lewis, was born on December 12, 1940, in Clarke Co., Iowa. He graduated from Thayer High School in 1959. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965.
On February 25, 1967, Don married Linda Kay Monagon in Grant City, Mo. They first lived in Lorimor were he farmed while working at Purolater for the next 10 years. He continued to farm his own ground and farmed with Carroll Loy. They moved to Creston in 2008 and Don retired in 2009. Don loved to follow his grandkids in all their sports.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Jennings of Creston; his daughter, Melissa (Scott) Pettit of rural Creston, a sister, Merlene Rynearson of rural Winterset; 3 grandchildren, Tyler (Rheanna) Pettit, Tayler Pettit (fiancé Natalie Mostek) and Logan (special friend Scott Oderio); two great-grandchildren, Brady Benjamin Pettit and Bentley Scott Pettit; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Donald is preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Richard Jennings and Darrell Jennings and three sisters, Luetta Klos, Mary Lou Crouse and Earla Clark.
