Arthur Wright, 88, of Winterset, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral home, Winterset Chapel. Memorials may be directed to AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport in De Soto.

Art was born on a cold and snowy January 11, 1933, in Larrabee Township near Cherokee, Iowa, to Walter and Mildred (Smith) Wright. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1950 and attended Iowa State University. He worked as a linesman for 36 years. Over the course of his career he worked for the Greene County Cooperative, Marshall County, and the city of Story City. He was a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and the Madison County Sportsmen’s Club.

Art enjoyed being a sportsman. He liked to fish, hunt and camp. He loved to take his Harley Davidson motorcycle and enjoy a ride. He obtained his pilot’s license at age 17 and flew airplanes well into his 80’s. Art also liked to go ice sailing on his rig that he built himself from the ground up, and boy could that thing zip across the ice. He was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan and always enjoyed watching them play.

Art was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores; daughter in-law, Stephanie Wright; brother, Harold; and sisters, Mae and Donna.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Carolyn; children, Todd Wright, Terry Wright, Kenneth (Sonya) Crow, Russell Crow, and Hilary (Michael) Wills; sister, Jean McAllister; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
