Truro - Lore Crow, daughter of Ernst Holzberger and Maria (Krautter) Holzberger, was born December 3, 1933 in Langenau, Germany and passed from this life Thursday, October 21, 2021 at her daughter's home in St. Charles, surrounded by her family at 87 years of age.

Lore grew up in Germany. While working as a secretary in the military administrative offices in Ulm Germany, she met a U.S. Army clerk, Bill, who made several trips to the offices and "the rest is history". Lore traveled to the United States and she and Bill were married in Des Moines, IA on August 21, 1953. They spent their first years of married life farming and were blessed with four children, Lesa, Steve, Jim and Debby, all born while living in Martensdale. The house grew too small and in 1960, the family moved to a farm four miles east of Truro in Virginia Township of Warren County. They lived there until Bill passed away in 2017. Lore moved to Regency Assisted Living in Norwalk until the decline of her health when she was transferred to her daughter's home in St. Charles with hospice care and family by her side.

Lore was a loving and caring farm wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always there for her family, actively supporting their kids' sports, music, church, Girl Scouts (as a leader) and other activities. The family enjoyed boating and taking vacations. Lore enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, playing cards and spending winters in Texas. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline's, Square Dancing Groups, Bridge Club and Bowling Club. Her greatest enjoyment was having her grandchildren and great grandchildren around. She was loved and will be greatly missed.

Those relatives who preceded Lore in death were her husband of 64 years, Maurice "Bill" Crow, parents, Ernst and Marie Holzberger, and sister, Hilde Rauh.

Lore leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Lesa (Greg) Juday of Newburg, MD, son, Steve (Donna) Crow of Truro, IA, son, Jim (Pam) Crow of Truro, IA, daughter, Debby (Brad) Athy of St. Charles, IA, 15 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Saturday October 30, 2021 at 11:30 am.
