J. J. Davies, once a well known resident of this town, died at Pasadena, California, the last week of December.

Transcriber's note: First name taken from 1900 Federal Census. The deceased lived in Madison County in the 1860s, leaving for Dexter in the early 1870s. He was the second owner/publisher of the Winterset Madisonian and authored the first history of Madison County in 1869.
