Died, on Thursday, February 14, at his home in Neosha Falls, Kansas, John M. Duncan. He was an old resident of Madison county. C. C. Bancroft and Charles Duncan left immediately for that place.

J. M. Duncan died at his home in this city last evening at 8 o’clock, after an illness of about two weeks. The deceased was one of our best citizens and his death is sincerely regretted. He was about 65 years old.

J. M. Duncan was born at Dayton, Ohio, in 1834 and died at his home in Neosho Falls, Kansas, February 14, 1901. His boyhood was passed in Indiana. In 1854 he moved to Iowa where he lived until 1897 when he came to Kansas and established his homestead at this place. In 1857 he married Miss Mary Johnson that union lasted for 44 years.
Mr. Duncan served three years in the 39th Iowa regiment during the civil war. He had been a Christian man for forty three years and was a member of the Methodist church at this place. He was highly respected by all who knew him and the community is the poorer because of his death.
He has been in poor health for some months but was not considered dangerously ill till the day before his death. He leaves his wife, four daughter and two sons. The funeral services were conducted at the home on Saturday afternoon.
