Lois E. Sutherland

Lois E. Sutherland, 95, of Winterset, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021 at the Winterset Cemetery with Pastor Mark Morehouse officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation.

Lois Eleanor Allbaugh Sutherland was born in Eddyville, Iowa on November 26, 1925, the daughter of Leon and Blanche (McFall) Allbaugh. She attended school in Eddyville and grew up in Eddyville and Oskaloosa before getting married to Willis D. Sutherland on July 15, 1942. They moved to Winterset in 1961.

Lois was an Avon Rep in the Council Bluffs and Winterset area for over thirty years. She enjoyed boating and water skiing in Council Bluffs. She enjoyed bowling, playing in leagues and tournaments, and thoroughly enjoyed golfing. She also liked to go out square dancing. Lois especially loved to get together with family, including family outings and picnics.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Rae Costello and Sandra Jean Berry; grandsons, Jeffrey W. Newton and Ryan D. (Amy) Berry; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn & Mason Berry; sister, Shirley Bruggemeir; in-laws, Alvin McGee and Carol
Allbaugh.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Blanche Allbaugh; her husband, Willis; siblings, Clifford Allbaugh, Ione (Cecil) Hulbert, Betty McGee, Lucille (Chuck) Allgood, Evelyn (Don “Zip”) Roberts, and Russell Allbaugh.
