Lee Junior Wheeler

Lee Junior Wheeler, 87, of Lorimor, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Macksburg United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Morris will officiate.

The Service will be Live Streamed located at powersfh.com under events.

Burial will be at the Moon Cemetery, south of Macksburg.

Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Memorials may be given to the family to be determined later.

Lee Junior Wheeler, son of Lee F. Wheeler and Esther Gaselle (Honnold) Wheeler, was born October 7, 1933 near Lorimor. He graduated from Macksburg High School.

On May 27, 1951, Junior married Maxine Ardith Young on Maxine’s parents farm in rural Union County. They settled on the Wheeler family farm south of Macksburg. Junior was a life-long farmer. He loved square dancing and all the Iowa State Fair activities over the years.

Survivors include his wife Maxine of Lorimor; three sons, Randy (Jill) Wheeler of Ankeny, Keith (Julie) Wheeler of Winterset and Troy (Jenny) Wheeler of Lorimor; a daughter, Debbie (Rick) Gripp of Creston; a sister-in-law, Myrtle Bailey of Altoona; a brother-in-law, Bruce Rowe of Glendale, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 sisters, Leila Witt, Eva White and Freda Rowe and one brother Leonard Wheeler.
