Mrs. W. H. Kiser died Sunday, Oct. 8th, 1899, at her home in Colfax, after a long illness. Mrs. Kiser was an old resident of Winterset, coming here in 1826 with her father, the late Jas. S. Rhodes.
She married W. H. Kiser in 1958, removing to Colfax in 1890, where she has since resided. Her burial occurred on Oct. 10th in Colfax.
Her daughter, Mrs. Warren Benge, of this city, was with her mother at the time of her death. She leaves four children, Mrs. Nettie Wells, Miss Sadie and Messers. Ed and Carl, Frank, Emery and Jesse.
________________________Transcriber's notes: Full name taken from gravestone. This obituary, as published, had numerous numerical mistakes. Their arrival in Madison County cannot be 1826 and is more likely to be 1856 when they first appear in a Madison County Census. Her marriage year should be 1858 rather than 1958. The "four children" should be "nine children" of which 8 were living (as listed) at the time of her death.
