Beverly June (Alcox) Vanderheiden, age 89 of Earlham, went to be with our Lord on Friday, August 20, 2021. She was born on July 2, 1932 to Lowes (Alcox) Troxel. She was raised in Lake City and attended the Woodlawn Christian Church and was a graduate of Lake City Public School in 1950. She was married for 21 years and raised six children in Carroll.

Her favorite color was red and she collected cardinals. She adored her red and yellow roses outside her home. Her hobbies included being a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, reading, playing cards with friends and watching old westerns, Wheel of Fortune and Hallmark movies. She was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt, NASCAR driver, and also the NFL Chicago Bears. She loved to support her family by attending their sporting and racing events and cheering them on.

She was an accomplished cook/baker for her family, and worked for several cafes. She was one of the most sought after cooks in Carroll County, being known for her cinnamon and caramel rolls.

She was a multi-talented, expert seamstress, crocheter, tatter, and crafter. She shared freely her knowledge and wisdom to teach others. This brought her great joy, and she created innumerable precision made treasures for her family and friends, which encompassed wedding dresses, crocheted name plaques, quilts, cheerleading skirts, dolls, etc.

Her friends would tell you that she was the best! She was a genuinely loving, kind and generous lady.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lowes (Alcox) Troxel.

She is survived by her children: Steven Vanderheiden, Randall Vanderheiden (LuAnn), Jolene Vanderheiden, Darci Rehfield (Michael), Eric Vanderheiden (Beverly), and Kerry Vanderheiden (DaNene); 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.

Celebration of Life and Luncheon will be held from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Monday, September 13th at the Woodlawn Christian Church, 200 North Woodlawn Avenue, Lake City, Iowa. A private graveside service will be held at Cottonwood Cemetery near Lake City. Online condolences may be left at johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
