Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home
Winterset, Iowa

Clarence “Doc” Fisher, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Winterset after years of suffering from COPD on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Doc’s wishes were to be cremated and a portion painted into the Freedom Rock in Greenfield.

Clarence was born on November 29, 1952 in Greenfield, Iowa to Raymond and Norma (Hainline) Fisher. The family lived in Greenfield from 1963 to 1979. He attended school in Greenfield until he left home when he was 16 and worked in construction. At age 17, he joined the Navy. This was during the Vietnam War period and they needed Corpsmen. He was also a member of the Marines Semper Fidelis MC.

Clarence had 4 kids by the time he was 21. He never missed a soccer or football game. He was a soccer coach for the All-Marine soccer team in Okinawa from 1983-1987 and was one of the best coaches. Doc was always a muscular man and was tough as nails when faced with death. Muscles, tattoos and cigarettes were the way of life. Overall, Doc Fish was everyone’s friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the honor to know him.

Doc taught many life lessons to his kids over the years. Never get used to being away from home and always keep family close. He raised them to be like a pack of wolves and to go out and “make your own pack.” He was a firm believer that family is the most important thing in the world.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ray, Bud, and Butch Fisher.

He is survived by his wife, Misti Fisher; sons, Michael (Paulina) Fisher, Robert Fisher, and Jeramy (Renee) Fisher; daughter, Dawn Downey; step-children, Tshanta Spencer, Victoria Brammer, Jerimy (Billie Jo) Waltz, Tiyanna Waltz, and Charlee Craig; sister, LeAnn (Scott) Starman; 28 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
