Lesley Paul Overton, 71 of Winterset passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 12 Noon on Tuesday, August 17th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Earlham. Graveside memorial service will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Tuesday, August 17th at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed John Stoddard Cancer Center or Every Step Hospice. Lesley was born on January 4, 1950 to Paul and Mildred Overton in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Des Moines and attended North High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army where he honorably served our country. On November 5, 1970 he was united in marriage to Maryann Riley. The couple made their home throughout central Iowa before lastly settling in Winterset.

Lesley enjoyed gardening, fishing, old westerns and John Wayne Movies. He was a long-time member of the Order of Eagles. Most of all he treasured time he was able to spend with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lesley was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mildred Overton; siblings: Tom Overton, Larry Overton, Randy Overton, Gary Overton, Carol Feldman and Sharon Bimrose and brothers-in-law, Austin Ballentire and David Bimrose.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Maryann of Winterset; children: Karl (Cindy) Overton of Des Moines, Kasey (Debra) Overton of Des Moines and Lisa (Josef) Trestan of Winterset; grandchildren: Derek, Tim, Megan, Zach, LeeAnn, Courtney, Teri and Shannon; great-grandchildren: Ava, Mia, Dallas, Myles, T.K. and Onyx.
