Death of Mrs. Rose Minshall

This community was deeply grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Rosena Leveke Minshall on Sunday, Jan 21. Mrs. Minshall, who had been in very poor health for several years, was visiting her sister, Mrs. Mary Joliffe, of Villisca. Mrs. Henry Leveke and daughter, of Webster township, stopped at Villisca on their way to see Mr. Leveke who was recently taken to the hospital at Clarinda. Plans were made for the two sisters and Mrs. Leveke to spend Sunday at Clarinda.

Mrs. Minshall, on the plea that she was not feeling well, excused herself from taking the trip when the time came. Upon returning, a note from her told the family that her body would be in the basement, and it was found that she had hung herself. This sad occurrence ahs brought sorrow to her many friends and her relatives.

Mrs. Minshall was born in Adair county, Feb. 5, 1884. Her husband, Elmer Minshall of Logan, Iowa, died nine years ago. After his death she bought a millinery store in Sac City, which she managed successfully for some years. Three brothers and four sisters survive.

Mrs. Minshall, a daughter of Henry Leveke, Sr., lived in Madison county and Winterset for years. She enjoyed the friendship and respect of a large circle of friends, to whom her death is especially tragic.
