Page 4, Column 2We clip the following from the Savannah, Mo., Democrat. Mr. and Mrs. Perry will be well remembered by old residents of this city. Mr. Perry was one of the first teachers in our public schools and taught here when the town was very small. He left her about 1860:
“Mrs. Perry, wife of O. H. Perry, died very suddenly of heart disease, at their residence in this city at 10:30 o’clock Saturday night, February 9, 1889. She had been out in the city during the afternoon attending to some business, and in fact was in apparently good health and attending to her household duties when she fell to the floor dead.
Mrs. Perry, whose maiden name was Martitia McCarty, was born March 17, 1837, near Greencastle, Putnam county, Indiana, and was married to Mr. O. H. Perry, at Winterset, Iowa, October 26, 1854.
Mrs. Perry was the mother of ten children, six boys and four girls. Two boys are dead, one having died in infancy and the other in manhood.
She lived happily with her husband over thirty years and was a dutiful wife and mother. The family moved to Savannah, Mo. November 24, 1887 to make their future home. Mrs. Perry was an earnest Christian, being a member of the M. E. church. She was buried in the cemetery here on Tuesday last.”
