Mrs. Osborn Dead

Word was received last week that Mrs. Oliver Osborn, formerly of Douglas township, had died at Ilo, Idaho on March 2. Mrs. Osborn went to Idaho from Madison county about fifteen years ago. She was quite well known among the older settlers of the county.

Mrs. Oliver Osborn

Mrs. Mahala Alice Simmons Osborn was born in Warren county, Iowa, Mary 27, 1855 and died at her home near Ilo, Idaho, march 2, 1917, aged 61 years, 9 months and 5 days. She was the daughter of William and Mary Simmons.

On December 31, 1874 she was married to Oliver Osborn at Indianola, Iowa. Mr. Osborn died 26 years ago, leaving a bereaved wife, three sons and five daughters who still survive and are present today. Their names are as follows: Bertha M. Acheson, Lucinda E. James, Charity B. Osborn , John L. Osborn, Louvina E. Bennett, William J. Osborn, Mary E. Mongenity and Carl E. Osborn. Mrs. Osborn leaves also 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild to mourn the loss of her influence and love.

Besides these she is survived by four brothers and one sister, Lewis A. John, Joseph and William Simmons and Mrs. Cinda Jackson.

For more than 36 years Mrs. Osborn had been a faithful member of the Primitive Baptist church. During the last fifteen years she has lived near Ilo and during these years has endeared herself to the whole community. The people of Ilo and vicinity wish to extend their heartfelt sympathy to all members of the bereaved family.
