Larry W. Post, 65, of Winterset, died Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston.

Memorial services will be held 12 noon, Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the VFW Hall in Winterset. Family will receive friends one hour prior, from 11 am to 12 noon. Burial will be held at a later date in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Memorials given to the family will be directed to his family for a future designation.

Larry Wayne Post was born in Iowa City, Iowa on June 6, 1955, the son of John and Cleo (Cooper) Post. He attended Winterset Schools and served in the Army during Vietnam Era. He was married to January Joy Shepherd on June 15, 2002 in Mercer, Missouri.

Larry was an auto mechanic, small engine mechanic, and taught handicapped individuals. He was a member of the Mercer Lions Club, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and was a MS Foundation volunteer.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, John & Cleo Post; daughter, Loretta (Lawrence) Dillinger; granddaughter, Audrey Dillinger; sister, Linda Denner; and first wife, Loretta (Purscell) Solt.

He is survived by his wife, January Post; children, Bob (Jennifer) Post, Jodie Clapsaddle, Alvin (Haley) Post, Melvina (Tim) Burton, Larry (Holly) Shepherd, and January (Mike) Johnson; siblings, Rose Post, Calvin Post, George Post, Gloria Post, Dianne Alsager; 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
