Russell “Hobie” Faux

Russell “Hobie” Faux, 92, of Winterset, Iowa, died Friday, January 15, 2021 at his residence in rural Winterset. Funeral services with military honors will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel with Pastor Mike Albert officiating. Family will greet friends 1 hour before the service. Masks are mandatory and please practice social distancing. Burial will be in the Clark Cemetery at Madison County, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.

Hobie was born on June 20, 1928, at Patterson, Iowa to Byron and Helen (Cooper) Faux. He grew up in Madison County and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was married on May 18, 1963 at Winterset to Barbara Jean Berry. He had spent his lifetime in Madison County and worked as a heavy equipment operator while also farming. He belonged to the American Legion and the V.F.W.

Hobie is survived by his sons, Dicky Eugene Faux, Russell Lyle Faux, Joe Cooper, and Steve Cooper; daughters, Delta Goolsby, Rhonda Allen, Penny Gautreux, Debra Callison, and Mary Touchette; brother, Donnie Faux; sisters, Fannie Palmer and Rose Benedict; 23 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Helen (Cooper) Faux; wife, Barbara (Berry) Faux; brothers, Alvin Faux, Wayne Faux, and Bryon Faux, Jr.
