Shirley Combs, 58, of Des Moines, died of heart failure on Sunday, May 4, 2003 at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Southtown Funeral Home, with cremation following services.

Shirley was born in Des Moines, and lived in the Martensdale, Prole and Des Moines area her whole life. She attended school at Interstate 35. Shirley worked in women’s apparel at the Southridge Sears for 13 years. Her family always came first in her life and she loved to shop.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Des Moines; daughter, Tammy Butler and husband Mike; son, Rick; son, Scott and wife Michele; sister, Peggy Evans and husband Donnie; her grandchildren, Jamie and Chris Gillard and Tara Combs; and her loving puppy, Tiffany. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 at Southtown Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
