Services for Hazel Duffy, 74, a resident of Des Moines until she moved to Pharr, Texas, Sept. 1, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home on Southwest Ninth Street. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Winterset.

Mrs. Duffy, a clerk at Look Magazine until her retirement in 1969, died Friday after heart surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Born in Niobrara, Neb., she lived in Des Moines since 1964 and also lived in Bevington, Ia. She was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible.

Survivors include a son, Leslie Root of Maquoketa; four daughters, Shirley Jurgensen of Patterson, Lois Priest of Norwalk, Naomi Hill of Patterson and Carol Downing of Mason City; a brother, Lawrence Powell of Des Moines; a sister, Wilma Siegenthaler of Jefferson; 23 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
