Mickey Miles Merical, Sr.

Mickey Miles Merical, Sr., who was born to Miles D. and Mary D. (Flesher) Merical on March 19, 1948 in Earlham, Iowa; passed away at the age of 72 on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mickey graduated from the Waukee High School in May of 1966. Shortly thereafter, he went on to marry the love of his life, Janet Kay Mogensen, on June 23, 1967. Together they resided in Des Moines until permanently settling in Waukee in 1975.

Mickey retired from Majona in 2011. He was a proud grandfather that adored spending time with his three grandchildren and attending their numerous activities. He loved feeding, watching and generally anything to do with hummingbirds. He enjoyed fishing, hunting morels, 4-wheeling, flying model airplanes and supporting the Green Bay Packers. Mickey was especially fond of the monthly lunches he shared with his fellow 1966 Waukee High School graduates.

Mickey is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Janet of Waukee; son Mickey Jr. of Waukee; grandchildren Miles, Kaitlyn and Carley; brother-in-law Carl Mogensen of Urbandale and numerous aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Darrel Merical and sister Pamela Merical.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Ernst Funeral Home, Waukee. The use of a face mask and physical distancing is requested. A private funeral service will be held Monday, November 9, 2020.
