Mary Lou McDaniel

Mary Lou (Houdashelt) McDaniel, 91 of Earlham passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Graveside funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, November 7th at the Earlham City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary’s name to the Earlham Rescue Unit.

Mary was born on June 11, 1929 to Floyd and Wilma (Patterson) Houdashelt in Walnut, Kansas. She grew up in Walnut and graduated from Walnut High School. On December 25, 1948 she was united in marriage to Delbert “Bud” McDaniel in Walnut. To this union six children were born: Richard, Linda, Barbara, Brenda, Robert and Delbert.

In February, 1968 the McDaniel family moved to Earlham. In her spare time she loved cooking especially during the holidays. Most of all she treasured time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Wilma Houdashelt; husband, Bud McDaniel; children: Robert McDaniel, Richard McDaniel and Linda (Rex) Rhodes; and brothers: Floyd, Don, Bob and Jack.

Mary leaves behind her children: Barbara (Dennis) Brott, Brenda Coon (Jim Koboldt) and Delbert “Beav” (Michele) McDaniel all of Earlham; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
