Edgar Lyle Packard, 80, of 2819 S. Jefferson, died Monday. He was a retired farmer.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles. There will be a scripture vigil service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Patterson James Chapel, with the Rev. Raymond Bohrer of the Mason City Team Ministry officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Ione; a daughter, Mrs. William Witte, Pine City, Minn.; three sons, Charles, Cedar Falls; Wendall, Altadena, Calif., and Clifford, North Hollywood, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Iza Book, Des Moines; Mrs. Jack Raser, Waukee; Mrs. Dean Allen, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Miss Mildred Packard, Westerville, Ohio; and three brothers, Leon, Greene; Newton, Ankeny, and Edwin, Des Moines.
