Clifford Kindred, 90, of Kent died Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Creston Specialty Care. Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 AM, October 17, 2020 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Creston with full military honors by Theodore J. Martins V.F.W. Post 1797 of Creston. Open Visitation will be October 16, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorials are to be determined, at a later date. Clifford Eugene Kindred, son of Doris Fern (Clark) and Gerald Warren Kindred, was born March 3, 1930 in Dexter, IA. Cliff as a child lived in Guthrie and Adair counties. Cliff graduated from Zion High School in 1948. Cliff went on to serve his country as a part of the U.S. Army during the Korean War 1952 to 1954, and then continued to serve in the Army Reserve for another 6 years.

On May 29, 1954, Cliff was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jean Bender. They settled on a farm near Macksburg where Cliff began farming. In 1957 he moved to Creston and in 1968 to Kent and continued to farm until he retired. In 1961 Cliff began working for the C B & Q Railroad as a Conductor for the next 20 years and he also continued to farm. Cliff was a member of the Theodore J. Martens, Creston VFW Post #1797, Creston Elks Lodge, #605 and the Old Thyme Power Club. He was known for his passion for restoring antique farm tractors and making scaled down models of farm tractors and farm equipment, of which he had an extensive collection.

Cliff is survived by his daughter, Connie (husband Robert) Cozzi of Hollywood, Fla.; a granddaughter, Randi Cox of Cooper City, Fla.; and four great-granddaughters, Taylor Rodriguez, Mya Rodriguez, Terra McMorris and Andromeda Hattaway, all of Cooper City, Fla.; long-time partner, Shirley Rice of Murray, Ia.; two sisters, Charlene Israel of N.C., and Karen Sackett and her husband Jim of Sun City, Ariz.; and brother-in-law, Kenneth (wife Judy) Bender of Owasso, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elizabeth in 2008, son, Stephen in 1990, in- laws, Arthur and Zelma (Young) Bender, a sister, Norma (husband Don) Wearmouth, a brother, Larry Kindred, and brothers-in-law, Robert Alloway and Charles Israel.
