Mildred Etta DeLay, 91, of Perry died of a heart ailment Friday at Dallas County Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, with burial at Earlham Cemetery.

Mrs. DeLay was born in Earlham. She taught school in Creston, Shannon City and West Des Moines before moving to Perry in 1965, where she taught at Woodward State Hospital School until retiring in 1972.

She is survived by four sons, Jack of Bouton, Jerry of Indianola, Robert of Cleveland, Ohio, and Roger of Ringoes, N.J.; three daughters, Barbara McCormick of Iowa City, Shirley Baird of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Janice Spellman of Granger; two sisters, Ester Compton and Alice Compton, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
