Funeral services for Mrs. Ross (Lucy) Echelberger, 80, of Dows were held on Wednesday at 2:00 p. m. from the Dows Presbyterian Church. Rev. Judith Cook officiated at the service and burial was in Fairview Cemetery. The Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. She died on Sunday evening, January 2, 1977 at the Clarion Community Hospital where she had been a patient for the past week.

Born at Winterset, Ia. on November 2, 1896 she was the daughter of Alvin and Marie Haupt and spent her early life there. She later moved to Clarion where she was married to Mr. Echelberger on October 14, 1920. After their marriage they farmed at Eagle Grove and Rowan before moving to a farm at Ventura in 1936. In 1939 they purchased a farm at Clear Lake and farmed there until moving to Dows in 1951 when Mr. Echelberger became a partner with his brother in the Dows Construction Co.

Survivors include her husband, one son, Glenn of Thornton and one daughter, Mrs. Delores Jean Behrens of Maynard, Ark. She is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and one grandchild.

Mrs. Echelberger was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Dorcas Circle. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors of America and the Jolly Workers.
